Area Map |
Harvey Gap State Park, five miles east of Rifle
Gap Reservoir, is a favorite spot with anglers. The 160-acre
lake is stocked with a variety of cold and warm-water fish,
including rainbow trout, crappie, catfish and smallmouth bass.
Known for its premier windsurfing, Harvey Gap also offers hiking,
boating and picnicking. Camping is not allowed at Harvey Gap,
but is permitted at nearby Rifle Gap and Rifle Falls State Parks.
In the winter, enthusiasts can snowmobile, cross-country ski
and ice fish. Visitors can see wildlife in the area, and there
are some migrating waterfowl. This day-use area sits at an elevation
of 6,400 feet. The park is a beautiful cedar and sagebrush habitat,
with a grand hogback -- a mountain ridge that runs along the
backside of the park.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pike, trout, bass, crappie, perch and catfish all inhabit the
lake.

Directions: Take I-70 to the Silt interchange west of Glenwood
Springs. Turn north on County Road 237 and follow the signs
for a few miles to the park entrance.
